About

Alan Stankevitz is a photographer and videographer located in southeast Minnesota. His passion is bird photography but also photographs other wildlife that get in his way of taking a picture of a bird. Both Alan and his wife (Jo) are originally from the Chicago, Illinois area.

In the year 2000, Alan decided to leave the rat race and build a cordwood house where they now reside. (Please visit Daycreek.com for more information on his house.) His housebuilding adventure took longer than expected (in part due to birding interruptions), but eventually the house was finished and when Jo retired, Jo, Alan and the cats moved up to Minnesota permanently.

Alan’s photography has been featured in many magazines and books related to birds and his video work has been featured in a local public television documentary and used by local and national media outlets. Alan has given various programs on his bird photography and photography to Audubon groups, nature groups and camera clubs in the Midwest.
