SUBJECT: The International Festival of Owls Photo Shoot: March 7, 2010

Interested in photographing owls? On Sunday, March 7, 2010, the International Festival of Owls will be conducting its annual Owl Photography Shoot. Likely candidates for this year's owls will include the following species:

Great Horned

Red Morph Eastern Screech

Gray Morph Eastern Screech

Please Note: Owl species may be changed due to weather, health and training status.

The event will be held as it was last year at the Valley High Golf Club, located between Hokah and Houston, Minnesota off of Highway 16. The cost of the photo shoot is $75 and this includes brunch at the club house. Two photographers are teamed together and allowed approximately 10 minutes per bird. (This may vary based on the total number of owls present.) Time slots start at 9 AM, 10 AM and 11 AM.

As in previous years, these owls are photographed in natural outdoor settings. All attempts are made to provide natural photographic settings for the birds, hiding their jesses and disabilities as best as possible. With this stated, we can't predict how an owl may pose for you, but these birds are generally cooperative.

We also cannot predict what the weather will be like for the day of the session, so please dress accordingly.

The number of available spots are limited, so please be sure to sign up ASAP. This event is usually sold out well in advance of the festival.

For further information, please visit the International Festival of Owls web site.

Proceeds from the event benefit The Raptor Education Group and The Houston Nature Center.
